Sixth Iran-Georgia joint commission to convene soon

TEHRAN, Oct. 07 (MNA) – The sixth session of Joint Economic Commission between Iran and Georgia is expected to run on October 09-10 in Tbilisi.

The Iranian delegation attending the sixth meeting will be headed by Minister of Cooperation, Labor and Social Welfare Ali Rabie, while the Georgian side will be led by, Giorgi Gakharia, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.

So far, five sessions of Iran-Georgia Joint Economic Commission have been held gradually defining venues of cooperation between the two countries. The sixth meeting will comprise four working groups including transportation and infrastructure, investment and commercial development, energy including oil, gas and electricity, as well as a cultural, social and health group.

In addition to assessing progress of previous agreements between the two countries, new programs will be analyzed and a cooperation agreement will be inked upon finding mutually agreed solutions to promote relations in line with realization of envisaged economic goals.

During the two-day summit, various issued will be negotiated including energy, agriculture, transportation, communications and technology, credit and banking cooperation, commercial, customs, educational, scientific and cultural matters, sports, tourism, health and the environment. With two years after the fifth Commission, some of the agreements are being implemented, and others still require serious attention of the two countries.

In time with the event, the joint Iran-Georgia chamber of commerce will also meet a delegation of Georgia’s private sector and the two parties will mull over opportunities and joint plans to find suitable trade and investment partners.
